MINspire
The MINspire (Mathematics, Innovation, Neural System, and Research) is an advanced flagship program of MIN that bridges mathematics with modern computational fields such as machine learning and data science.
Overview
MINspire is an hybrid program (online + in-person) designed to take students from foundational mathematical concepts to cutting-edge applications in machine learning and scientific research.
Spanning two weeks, the program combines rigorous mathematical theory with hands-on coding, allowing participants to immediately apply concepts through practical implementation. By the end of the program, students engage with ideas that are actively explored in modern research environments.
Objectives
- To connect mathematics with real-world computational applications
- To introduce students to machine learning and data-driven problem solving
- To develop strong analytical, coding, and research skills
- To foster a deeper understanding of modern scientific and technological systems
Curriculum
The program integrates mathematics, computation, and machine learning, covering:
- Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Probability (foundations for ML)
- Classical machine learning models (regression, SVMs, clustering)
- Neural networks and deep learning (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers)
- Advanced topics such as Graph Neural Networks, Neural ODEs, and Physics-Informed Neural Networks
Alongside these topics, participants gain experience in:
- Implementing algorithms from scratch
- Data analysis and visualization
- Reading and discussing research papers
- Building and presenting real-world projects
